Carrie Zelin Johnson, M.Ed.
Carrie Zelin Johnson M.Ed. is an In-Home Mental Health Practitioner (MHP) for David Hoy and Associates, providing community-based mental health services. Carrie holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership with a minor in Educational Psychology from the University of MN. As a former home visitor and MHP, Carrie has over 25 years of experience providing individual and family life skills training, psychoeducation, and making essential community connections. She works to cultivate trusting and healing-centered relationships to support those who have experienced trauma, and those who just need help learning new skills and navigating school and community systems.
She has worked to improve the lives of children, youth, and families by supporting culturally relevant and trauma informed practices. Whether in policy, education, non-profit or mental health sectors she is passionate about equitable solutions and systems change. Much of this drive was ignited by her own experiences as a parent of multi-racial children with exceptional needs. She is an enthusiast for social emotional learning, literacy, urban gardening, affordable housing, music & fine arts. She is a state certified expert trainer and mentor with extensive background in adverse childhood experiences, trauma, special education, parenting, and behavior interventions. In 2025, she received the MNAEYC Distinguished Service Award.
Carrie is currently accepting new clients of all ages, races, ethnicities, religions, genders, and sexual orientations. She is available Monday through Friday with flexibility for both day and evening hours.
